Who are you?

I’m a Chicago-based photographer from Poland. I’ve spent most of my adult life living in Beijing and New York City. I’ve shot for:

  • Lululemon

  • Facebook

  • Lucky Jeans

  • G20 Economic Summit

  • Amazon

  • China Daily

  • Green Bay Packers

  • Accenture

  • AirBnB

The majority of my work is corporate and photojournalistic but I’m repositioning my portfolio toward fashion, editorial, and lifestyle; hence this shoot!

What’s the purpose of the shoot?

It’s never the same but here are the most common ones:

  1. I have a client shoot coming up and want to test out a concept or location scout with a stand in.

  2. I want to try a new lighting concept.

  3. I’m working on a focused concept to add to a particular book in my portfolio.

Do I get to keep the photos?

Yes! An hour long shoot typically yields 10-40 photos that I send in hi-def JPEGS over dropbox. Please be sure to download the photos within one week of delivery as I clear out the dropbox regularly.

How will the photos be used?

There’s no commercial licensing either way so neither you (the model) or me (the photographer) are allowed to sell the photos or use them commercially. We’re both allowed to post to our own social media and our personal portfolios.

Can I bring someone to the shoot?

Absolutely! We get better photos if the subject feels comfortable. Additionally, I don’t hire assistants for test shoots and having someone to hold a reflector, diffuser, or light (no heavy lifting of any sort) really expands the creative possibilities of the shoot - especially for day-time outdoor shoots.

Am I responsible for styling the shoot? What about hair and make-up?

I’d ask that you bring 1 or 2 outfits consistent with the mood boards. I’ll send you some suggestions from your feed; if you have other ideas let me know. Communication is key because even though an outfit might be awesome, it might not photograph great for the concept for reasons you might not think of. Same thing for hair and make-up. I will send make-up guidance depending on the style of shoot.

What if I want to shoot but don’t have an outfit that matches the mood boards?

Just let me know! The shoot won’t be successful if the mood, location, and outfits are not aligned. I can send you some other options and maybe we can come up with a plan B.

Am I paying you? Are you paying me?

This is a collaborative project, shot time-for-print (in exchange for your time, you get the prints - or rather, the digital images). No one is paying anyone.

If I cancel can we reschedule?

Life happens! If you give me sufficient notice then yes. I generally don’t reschedule same-day cancels. If I’m traveling to your city, and you think there’s a reasonable chance of cancellation, please don’t schedule a shoot with me. I have limited time when I travel and want to make the most of it.

Can you shoot my friend too?

If I reached out to you it’s because I think we can create images that I can use as references for clients or, in the best case scenario, an addition to my portfolio. For me, these shoots are fun, but also targeted and strategic. Photography is my full time job. In short - no.
